I’m interested in a lot of things. Some, more and more of them as time goes by for some reason, of my preferred subjects fall in to category of the quite odd. Like how do people react to intimidating headlines and other immensely blown up stories in the media. On the day the headlines tells that potato chips can be lethal due to carcinogenic substances, the other day you’re likely to get AIDS on the subway and short while later it’s apparent that apples make you fat. Do people believe this? I think so actually. A friend of mine who happened to work at grocery store when alarm about the dangers of potato snacks rang out through all the media told me that, yes, the sales of the aforementioned snacks hit an all time low during something like two weeks. But thing is, when the evening paper grew tired of whole thing and went back writing of the usual stuff sales of the potato chips also went back normal. As if nothing happened. Anyways, I’m interested to know if any people change their habits permanently due out-of-proportion scares like this. Are there people who would never eat a tomato again if some bored out journalist were to write a gag-like piece on risk of contracting dysentery while eating tomatoes grown south of Amsterdam? If I had the time and drive I would splash up some suitable online survey tool on my blog or something and try to find out for real.
